We deliver a lot of content on DVD and Blu-Ray to our clients. When we have a wedding video edited and completed, we need to create a great looking Blu-Ray with motion menus and chapters so it can be played in a DVD player. Since we started using Adobe Creative Cloud, we noticed that the Encore DVD authoring application isn’t included. There is a counter-intuitive trick to downloading Encore with Adobe CC: you have to download Adobe Premiere CS6. Here’s how:
1 - Navigate to the Creative Cloud Apps download area. We’re using Adobe CC on OSX so we click the “Menu Extras” CC icon (By the clock on OSX)
2 - On the “Find New Apps” row there is a button that says “Filters & Versions” so click it and choose “Previous Version”
3 - Click the Premiere “Install” button and choose “CS6″
4 - Once Premiere CS6 is installed, Encore CS6 will magically appear in your applications folder as well. Feel free to uninstall Premiere CS6 at this time if you just want Encore. Just remember Adobe Dynamic Link won’t work between Premiere CC and Encore CS6.
The library files like templates and presets will not be automatically installed with Encore, but you can get them by following the instructions HERE.
Adobe Encore is a powerful tool and we really love to use it for DVD authoring. While it can be a bit buggy at times, it offers far more control over menu design and functionality when compared to the DVD building that is included with Final Cut Pro X, which we use for the majority of our video editing.
